Katelyn’s Champions for St. Jude Golf Classic hosted by ChampionBrands breaks fundraising record

IMG_1954Jacksonville, Fla., April 11, 2017 – Champion Brands is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Katelyn’s Champions for St. Jude Golf Classic broke its fundraising record. The MillerCoors distributors recently hosted the event, alongside St. Jude patient and cancer survivor Katelyn Atwell, and raised more than $44,000 for St. Jude.

“Being a part of something that raises money for this wonderful organization is very fulfilling,” said Earl Benton, president of Champion Brands. “The team did a tremendous job and I am so proud of all the hard work they put into making this a huge success. I look forward to raising even more money next year.”

The Katelyn’s Champions for St. Jude Golf Classic was held on March 27 at St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine. All proceeds benefit children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Katelyn was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 1999 and underwent chemotherapy in St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Doctors found she suffered from a rare form of meningitis and after extensive daily therapy, she recovered from the meningitis and completed cancer treatment in September 2001. Katelyn is now a cancer-free adult and continues to pursue her goal to give back to St. Jude in gratitude for all they have done for her.

Katelyn’s Champions for St. Jude Golf Classic was open to golfers of all skill level and welcomed over 124 golfers from the local community. William Floyd, former Florida State Seminole fullback and NFL Superbowl XXIX Champion, was this year’s special guest.
